Project Goals: 

  • Bring about self-awareness of one's posture and long-term effects

  • Address and alleviate back discomfort from sitting at a computer for an extended period of time with poor posture

  • Design a product that is not invasive to one's activities on their computer while still meeting their needs.

Solution

SpineSaver is a desktop widget that helps to improve users’ posture by showing mirroring avatar on screen.

Main Features:

1. An avatar that mimics the user's posture

2. Health advice tailored to the user's habits

3. Subtle cues to indicate posture and length of time in position

4. Tracks sitting habits to provide graphs and data to the user
